Electric Picnic 2010 Line Up Announced!

Ok so after an amazing line up announced for Oxygen I think everyone knew it was going to be a fairly disappointing line up for Leccy Picnic. To be honest there are some top bands, and let’s face it, you never get to see everyone you plan to anyway. It’s better than being stuck in a mucky field with a rake of knackers, lashing cans of Bud into them whiel waiting with bated breath to catch a glimpse of Emin-fricking-em. The National, Modest Mouse, Leftfield and LCD Soundsystem all in the one place. I’m not going to complain. I’m also a little excited about Booka Shade. Don’t judge me.

Here’s the line up:

Roxy Music; Leftfield; Massive Attack; Lcd Soundsystem; The Frames; Public Image Ltd; The National;Imelda May; Mumford & Sons; Seasick Steve; Modest Mouse; Hot Chip; Gil Scott-Heron; Fever Ray; Jonsi (Sigur Ros); Fat Freddy’s Drop; Bad Lieutenant; Crystal Castles; Afro Celt Soundsystem; Booka Shade; Bloody Beetroots Death Crew77; Steve Earle; The Waterboys; Beach House; The Big Pink; 808 State, Low Anthem; Redneck Manifesto; The Horrors; Monotonix; Liquid Liquid; Here We Go Magic; Field Music; Steve Mason, Cymande; The Alarm; Messiah J & The Expert; Dublin Gospel Choir; Caribou; Adrian Crowley; Villagers; New Pornographers; Edan; Breakestra & Chali 2 Na; Mr Scruff; Memory Tapes.

I’m late! I’m late! The rabbit isn’t the only one. Thanks to a hectic schedule I completely forgot to post about Urban Decay’s limited edition offering, their exclusive Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows, to coincide with the launch of Tim Burton’s new flick. It’s absolutely amazing and costs just €37. For that meagre price tag you get 16 sparkly shadows in gorgeous colours, eyeshadow Primer Potion and two 24/7 eye pencils. You can only get it at Debenhams and it’s limited edition, so get your hands on it before it disappears down a rabbit hole.

I’m a stickler for staying put. Once I find make-up I like, I stick with it through hell and high water. I’ve been an avid Benefit foundation fan for some time now, but after having a go of Clarins new offering, their Everlasting Foundation, I’ve jumped the Benefit ship. It promises to give 15 hour flawless hold, hydration, radiance and comfort. And I’m shocked to say it does everything it says on the tin. It glides on, leaves an even finish, stays for hours (I wasn’t up for the whole 15 so I can’t guarantee that) and I might add that it sits on your face like you were wearing primer. I’m giving this a mighty two-thumbs-up.

Gorillaz in our midst

For those of you who, like me, have been waiting with bated breath for the new Gorillaz album, Plastic Beach, well wait no further. As part of the Gorillaz takeover of The Guardian’s music section they are letting you listen to their new album in its entirety one whole week before it’s released. There are collaborations with everyone from Snoop Dogg and Gruff Rhys to Lou Reed and the National Orchestra for Arabic Music (yes, I’m as intrigued as you are). I’m very excited. I’m just about to have a listen now so I’ll get back with a full review as soon as I’ve given it the once over. If Stylo is anything to go by, we’re in for a treat. What better way to enjoy lunch than with a bit of ‘aural’? Give this a click for your own aural pleasure.

The Italians know food and they know style, which is why it’s not surprising that Italian Vogue have set up a site for the curvy (or more realistically, normal-sized) ladies. Featuring the best in beauty, how to guides, profiles of curvy icons (America Ferrari (L), model Lizzie Miller et al) this site gives a more realistic insight on a woman’s size. Hurrah to Vogue!!

Ok so there’s still no such thing as a free lunch, but there is such a thing as a free hairdo. Junaberry on 30 Lower Ormond Quay, Dublin 1, are looking for models for blowdrys and GHD curls. In case you’re afraid you’ll come out looking like you’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards, they’ve won plenty of awards and are listed on the Good Salon Guide. Their school is open Monday to Thursday 10am to 4pm so if you’re heading for a few pints, have the make up done, the guna on and want seriously stylish gruaige (for free) then pop along to Junaberry.
